" For our God is Merciful and full of compassion"- Psalm 116:5

Patristic Universalism

by David Burnfield

"I would fall into the category of a hopeful Universalist. While I find strong scriptural evidence for my position, I can certainly understand why other views regarding what happens to those who die apart from Christ have been advocated. But I would also say that everyone--no what matter their eschatological understanding might be--must likewise be hopeful rather than dogmatic about their particular views for none of us truly knows what will happen at the end of this age." - David Burnfield

David Burnfield, the author of 'Patristic Universalism' highly regards the authority of scripture, and provides historial, philosophical and biblical answers to the question of divine judgment. Patristic Universalism views God as a loving and faithful savior who is victorious , and at the same time will hold us accountable for the good and bad we have done. Postmortem punishment and postmortem salvation is documented in scripture, and church history. And as a victorious and faithful savior, He will not rest until all lost sheep are found, and all prodigals are home. He is unwilling that any perish, but all come to repentance.

"For whom the LORD loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights."

- Proverbs 3:12

David is a teacher of Christian apologetics; he confronts the many different topics that are challenging to the Christian Faith. His new book will cover the question of 'The Synoptic Problem', (scheduled to be released in late 2019).

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil."

-2 Corinthians 5:10
