Evidential Apologist, Author and Theologian
David and Wendy have been married 40 years and are both dedicated to defending the Christian faith. Beginning in 1999, their goal has been to share the compelling evidence of the historical life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
David Burnfield's experience in teaching apologetic classes over the past twenty-five years has established him as a knowledgeable authority in defending the Christian faith. His commitment to defending the historical evidence of the Christian faith is reflected in both of his pivotal works.
"Patristic Universalism", published in 2013 with a second edition released in 2016, offers a comprehensive analysis of early church teachings on universalism, making a compelling case for universal reconciliation as foundational to early Christian thought. This book has been designated as essential reading for those pursuing ordination with the Christian Universalist Association.
His more recent publication, "Assessing the Synoptic Problem: A Defense for Literary Independence", addresses a critical area of biblical studies by asserting that the Gospel writers created their accounts independently. This defense not only contributes to the academic discourse surrounding the Synoptic Problem but also seeks to illuminate the unique perspectives and contributions of each Gospel writer to the New Testament.
"I would fall into the category of a hopeful Universalist. While I find strong scriptural evidence for my position, I can certainly understand why other views regarding what happens to those who die apart from Christ have been advocated. But I would also say that everyone--no what matters their eschatological understanding might be--must likewise be hopeful rather than dogmatic."

"I believe that Jesus is the Great Physician and that we will all be healed of our imperfections. As a former supporter of eternal hell, I have concluded that God's sacrifice was not in vain. I believe God is omniscient and His ways far outweigh any human. His love will reign, and no soul can be left in their poor estate. For they will be cured by the Great Physician."
